Falcon Buddies are working for the weekend!

All work and no play make Falcon Buddies dull boys. So off to a beach camping holiday we go!

We woke up Saturday morning exhausted from a weeks worth of playing shows so we lounged around and watched TV for a few hours to relax. But the television got boring and we became frustrated with doing nothing productive so we unloaded our equipment from the van and began working on new material. After working on some parts and structure, we realised it was time to get going. Off to Ventura we go!

After buying some groceries for the camp grilling, we arrived at the campsite in Ventura at about 7 p.m. Our good friend Todd got us the camp site and let us borrow a tent and ice chest. We pulled in, and after shotgunning a beer each, we began assembling the 10-person tent. After getting the tent together, our friend Kurt, who was recently mentioned in another blog, arrived and we started drinking some more. A few beers and burgers later, Todd arrived and the fun began. We met our neighbours from the adjacent campsite who told us they had over 100 beers in case we needed some more. We had more than enough. Then we went into the van, for something about a box and heat, and engaged in an impromptu jam session with a mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and autoharp. The rest of the night was a bit hazy.

The first thing we did this morning was go to the beach but the sky was overcast as it was the day before. We walked along the beach and went back to the campsite to load up and leave. Next we found ourselves walking around downtown Ventura where we stopped by a Mexican restaurant for some mega burritos and awesome smoothies. After this most satisfying meal, we walked around Ventura and found a car show!!! They had all sorts of 60s roadsters, 70s and 80s sports cars, and, sadly, no muscle cars. But it was really rad seeing all the old cars restored to top condition. After leaving the car show, we were on our way back home. But one of us noticed the sky had cleared and another had the brilliant idea of suggesting we go back to the beach for some swimming action. So, after recovering from a wrong turn on California's crappy highways, we were on the beach being tackled by huge waves. The sky became overcast again and the wind got really cool so we decided to head back home.

Here we are at Ian's parents' house. We swept and cleaned the van, broke down our equipment, and are now trying to finish the beers left over from camping. It has been a great weekend. Tomorrow we're off to Hollyweird again for our final show and then we depart back to the great Lone Star State.

Here's some pics!

Oh wait, we had so much fun, we forgot to take any.
